                 To Editor about the evil of smoking

Dear Sir,

             Smoking is injurious to health. This statement is written on every packet of cigarettes. But in spite of this warning, millions of cigarettes are sold and smoked daily. Everybody knows that these thin tubes of paper contain nicotine which is a deadly poison. 

When a person inhales the smoke of tobacco, nicotine deposits in his lungs. From there, it gets diffused in his blood and causes various complications. Sleep sickness, loss of appetite , diseases of lungs heart problems and general weakness are a few of them. In certain cases, it causes cancer also. if the patient continues smoking, these diseases can not be cured.

There is not a single benefit of this evil but even then people in a great number are involved in this act. Most if them start smoking cigarettes just for the sake of fun and style. But with the passage of time it becomes their permanent habit.The force of habit then compels them to go on. It is true that some fortunate fellow give up smoking but they are negligible in number. But most of the people cannot get rid of this vice.

Cigarette smoking is the loss of both health and money. A major portion of the personal budget is spent on this evil. The return that it gives is the ruin. The cigarette companies make their advertisements very attractive. They simply trap the young generation.  The out come is that they become addicts. For an addict it is very difficult to come out of the difficulty. 

The smokers have not only their own lives at risk but they also play with the lives of other innocent people. Morally, they should not smoke at public places. But they never care for children, women and people. They should not smoke in their presence. People smoke in trains, buses and vans without even seeking permission from their fellow passengers.
Our films and TV commercials promote smoking by presenting this act in an attractive style. Such displays should be banned so that the youth may not be led astray. All types of tobacco advertisement should prohibited. Moreover the government should impose heavy taxes on tobacco in any form. The cultivation of tobacco should also be under license. This will discourage its growth.

Our government should impose a ban on cigarette smoking at public places, in public transport and in offices where their is public dealing. Strict measures should be taken against those who violate this code of ethics.The commercials of cigarette companies should not be shown on TV. Smoking is a curse and we should save our nation from the bad effect of smoking.
